We Are Still Open for Business…

Like all of you, my normal way of doing business is not an option today.  But that doesn’t mean that I’m not here to help you with your home!  Dorsch Interiors is still open for business…because we can do almost anything virtually.

I’m working on adapting to this new normal and focusing on how I can better connect and serve you during this time.  Here are a few ways we can connect while still maintaining social distancing.

A Virtual Consultation
With our cell phones I can “walk” your home with you, provide recommendations and answer your decor questions.

E-Design
Fill out a questionnaire, send us some pictures and measurements, and we’ll prepare for you an e-design with easy instructions for putting it all together!

New Design Plan
If you’ve been thinking of redecorating a room(s), we can start developing a design plan now, virtually, for later installation.  So that when the manufacturers are finally open, we are ready to go.

Finding Inspiration in my Sister’s Garden

My sister’s garden never disappoints me.

For years, I have visited her in the Miami area during every season of the year, and like all tropical gardens, the variety of colors, textures, patterns, shapes, sizes…no matter what the season…are always on display!

The Fabric Blues

I love fabrics! Each one is a piece of art!

I remember, it wasn’t that long ago, when you walked into a fabric store you’d find a myriad of fabrics in all colors and patterns. But recently, I stopped by Cutting Corner fabric store in Addison TX and I was a little surprised at what I found….a sea of blues, grays, tans, and neutrals…and nothing else!

Even their carpet selections were all in the blue and neutral tones.

A Victorian Beauty

A perfect little Victorian!  This little beauty had a For Sale sign out front, so I didn’t feel too awkward stopping to take pictures from the road!

The porch molding caught my eye.  The circle pattern is beautiful.  It’s more geometric than the typical ornate moldings you find on Victorian porches.  So much charm and inspiration… Continue reading…

Exploring in the North Carolina Mountains

Just like interior design and flying and photography, travel is another passion of which I can’t get nearly enough!  Exploring really, but exploring is always more fun when travel is involved…and always with camera in hand.

Last month I got to explore the mountains of North Carolina.  Living in the Dallas area, mountains are not part of my daily life, so I’m always struck by their immensity and find myself in a state of awe the entire time I’m visiting.

In December the landscape is cold, wet and brown!  And while there are seasons that are greener or more colorful, winter has its own beauty…

Gorgeous Coastal Living

While in Rochester NY last week I drove by this gorgeous picturesque scene and just had to turn around for a picture.  I LOVE everything about this coastal home…the immaculately manicured yard, the shingles on the roof, the gray-on-white  color scheme, and more than anything, that view!  And not just from the street, can you imagine the view from that sunroom?

Mid Century Modern Hotel in Oregon

On my trip to Oregon in March, I stayed at the Ashland Hills Hotel & Suites.  It felt a little like staying in a time capsule…in a good way!

The hotel is a retro gem, wonderfully decorated with a mid century modern decor.   It opened originally in 1978, after 35 years it was purchased by new owners, and they have done a great job renovating and updating the comfort and amenities, while retaining it’s very cool mid-century vibe.

The Perfect Beach House

With all the triple digit temperatures we’ve been having in Dallas lately, I’m definitely making plans for an overdue visit back home:  Miami.  While there, I will surely stay a few days at my sister’s beach condo in Bonita Springs on the west coast of Florida.  Back in 2010, when she bought the condo, I spent a week with her shopping and helping her decorate, with a definite beach house feel.

Since then, she has gradually added her special touches.  It’s THOSE touches that make this the Perfect Beach House!  My sister’s attention to detail and desire to make her guests as comfortable as possible, are unparalleled to none!  Here’s what I’m talking about… Continue reading…

Colorful Quilts

This past weekend, on a trip to Durant Oklahoma, I was inspired by a quaint little fabric shop I found in the old downtown area.  The HNT Quilt Shop caters primarily to the quilting community and offers a wonderful assortment of fabrics and notions that appeal to quilters young and…more mature.  As I entered the shop, it was immediately evident that the staff was friendly and passionate about what they were doing.

But what caught my attention the most was the color!  The store is a visual feast of reds, yellows, greens, blues, and every color in between.  The color is everywhere, starting with the bolts of fabric, which are all meticulously arranged and displayed by color, to the large selection of colorful thread spools.
