It has been pure joy to work on this traditional classic highrise apartment in the heart of Dallas.
Downsizing from a larger single family home in Austin, these homeowners opted for the highrise lifestyle, where the view was a huge consideration. From the 15th floor in Uptown, the view is definitely the indisputable focal point!
We painted the living room window wall in black. But not just paint, a decorative architectural trowel-on coating technique called Lusterstone. It’s a shimmery plaster finish that can be manipulated to provide specific patterns, giving the wall dimension and movement. The black wall is dramatic but warm.
In the evening, the black wall blends almost unobstructed with the night sky for an amazing, vibrant view of the city lights. A stunning view!

The Entry is simple and classic, allowing the architecture to take center stage. The same Lusterstone technique was used on the walls. The round tray ceiling was shined to a high gloss for maximum reflection of the crystal chandelier.
At the center of the Entry is a beautiful bronze statue of a girl holding a kitten. A gift from him to her that was previously in their Austin garden.
The columns in the living area were painted to look like marble. An amazing job! All the Lusterstone and faux finishes were done by Chuck Bick of The Interior Touch.
Before moving in, the kitchen was separated from the living area by a wall. That wall was the first to go, allowing one to also enjoy the view from the kitchen and providing the opportunity to install a bar, which gave us additional seating for entertaining.
